"Ask Bud!"

Question:

The 4th and 8th strings on my MSA's E9 neck do not return to pitch when I engage and release my knee levers. What would you suggest?

Answer:

Your MSA is an All-Pull System. Ninety-five percent (95%) of the time, the problem is the tuning nuts. They are "over-adjusted" and the lower fingers probably are not contacting the stop bar. Loosen all the tuning nuts that raise and lower your E's. Then, adjust the pedal or knee lever stop in order to get a little more slack between each tuning nut and finger before the pull engages.
