Dear Mr. Fabian and Mr. Carter:
I really enjoyed the [St. Louis] steel guitar convention this year, and I really appreciate you letting me play [in your booth].
I'm going to be playing [on stage] at the Saluda convention on November 8. I won't see you there, but I am looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta.
Last Friday night I got to play with Garland Nash's band, and I loved it. I got to play the entire time (from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm), and one man in the audience gave me a tip. Mr. Nash also invited me to play next week.
I think Carters are the best steel guitars there are (I love mine). When I first started playing back in February of 1998, I wound up with another brand. At the time I liked it just fine. But by the time I got to the Knoxville convention in March, 1998, I had my heart set on a Carter. The guitar felt right to me, the strings were spaced just right, and the pedals felt better also.
I ended up trading for a Carter, and I'm glad. I like the Carter better. It's a Day- tuned guitar, and I like the tuning. There's only one thing about the Day tuning: Bill Ferguson says I play backwards. In fact everyone says that. Well, hey, he's the one that plays backwards if you ask me.
John Fabian was very helpful when I needed shorter legs and pedal rods. In fact, he had a set waiting for me when I went to Mesquite to visit the factory. Everyone at Carter has been very nice to me.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Cullifer
