March 15, 1998 Hi Ann, John, and Bud: Greetings from Finland! It's been a long time since I've written to you. Not that I'm forgetting you, just been busy. BUT: not too busy to play my CARTER. Now after 2 years I want to tell you how satisfied & pleased I am. I like playing, get relaxed when playing, learn more and more about the secrets of 'steeling'. Steel is a real part of my life, even my wife agrees. Thank you for this excellent instrument. All good, happy times I have been a proud owner of a Carter Steel Guitar for nearly a year. I thank you for your excellent work. I like my Carter very much. It stays in tune well and both necks sound great. Also, it is the correct height and dimensions for me. Although I've been hooked on steeling for only about 4 years, I cannot find a better hobby to relax. Inventing new tricks and variations is really fun. The versatility of steel guitar is enormous. I started on 12-string guitar in the mid-70's and then went to Bluegrass and 5-string banjo (D & G-tuned). However, I could never forget the magnificent sound of the pedal steel. I have been eager for years to try a pedal steel, but here in Northern Europe they were very hard to find. Four years ago, I found a used one and now with your custom-built Carter, I've got interesting new aspects to my playing. I play almost every day: country, blues, rock, and gospel. Our 5-member band practices every Wednesday night. We have lots of fun adding pedal steel to various songs. Thank you . . . keep up your excellent work!
