I have been a college professor in upstate New York for the past 30 years. After a 20-year hiatus from country music and the steel guitar, at age 50, 1 decided to play again. Although my old 8-string Gibson Electroharp still worked well, it had not given me the sound that I wanted. The technology was not available at that time. Little did I realize what it would be like to start over again. However, my love of the steel guitar sound encouraged me.
It was time to shop for a new steel. After some research, the field narrowed to three, but the Carter D- 10 was my ultimate choice. The craftsmanship is outstanding. There appears to be no equal in its price bracket. It works well, looks great, sounds super and does it ever sustain!
Dealing over the phone and by mail (and e-mail) with a Company hundreds of miles away was a major concern but turned out not to be a problem. Ann, John and Bud treated me more like family than a customer. This was probably one of the most comfortable business transactions that I had ever made. I don't like to even use the term "business" since I felt accepted as a friend.
A few months after the guitar had arrived, I had the opportunity to meet John at the Pedal Steel Guitar Association Celebration in Connecticut during November, 1997. John's congeniality made me both comfortable and welcome.
I wholeheartedly endorse the Carter Steel Guitar and the Carter Family as a great value for your steel dollar and hope that someday, I can play well enough to do the guitar justice.
Sincerely,
John R. Lupe, Jr.
