December 21, 1996 I would strongly recommend that you consider a Carter. They are finely made, smooth operating guitars that sound and play great! As a very satisfied Carter owner, I can tell you that the sound of my Carter is virtually identical to that of my friend's push-pull Emmons. My friend and I play together fairly regularly and we both agree the Carter sounds every bit as good as his Emmons, but with more sustain. Given the Carter's obvious mechanical superiority and pedal action, there's no way I would trade. The folks at Carter couldn't be nicer to deal with or more accommodating. A first-rate outfit. I bought a Carter D-10 in September 1996. You all have heard enough stuff about Carters to know that the instrument itself is super-well constructed and sounds terrific. Great pedal action, etc., etc. What really stands out to me, is the company and the way they treat their customers. Bud, John, and Ann really go out of their way to provide super service and treat their customers with respect and devotion. In a world so filled with "let's make a buck" operations, focused solely on the bottom line, it is truly a pleasure to deal with folks who take great pride in their product and who make their customers feel like "one of the family." I am the president of a small corporation, also dedicated to selling to a rather limited market (handmade, exotic pool cues starting at $1,000 and going up to 6 figures!). I know how difficult it is to spend literally hours on the phone answering questions, giving opinions, and giving advice without any guarantee of a sale. The folks at Carter did this with me quite graciously. Given that there are many fine instruments available today, what sold me was the folks at the other end of the phone.
