April 10, 2000 Dear John: As you may be able to tell from the photo of me, we play the animal club circuit here in central Ohio. You know: Moose, Elks, Eagles, etc. I have got sense enough to know that I will never find a gig that pays better than working at the Post Office, but on Friday and Saturday night, it makes me feel like a kid again. As for my Carter with BCT, it's the best instrument-buying experience I have ever had. It was delivered in July of 1999 to my door in 20 days and it was exactly as ordered (including overheight legs & rods). All of this is great business practice, but not of much importance if the product is not satisfying to play. Of course, after making the buying decision, whatever the choice, the buyer will think he has made the best choice. Having said that, I have played all of the other guitars, most of them with my setup on them, and from the first time I sat down at it, the Carter felt like an extension of my own hands. It just feels like a part of me! I learned a long time ago that the less I have to think about while I'm playing, the more I can get into the "zone" and play with "feeling". This Carter is like a part of my mind and body. I can tell you that the Carter (with BCT) is the best sounding guitar I have ever heard, ever! Better to my ear than Buddy's guitar, Paul's guitar, or Doug's. I recently played a benefit here in town where some of our old 'dawgs' were running. Sonny Curtis (formerly with "Jones & Wynette") was there, as well as Tom Kiley (played for "Roy Drusky"). Both of them said the tone on my Carter was remarkable, clarity was superior, good edge with plenty of body, and great note separation in chords. For me, if the guitar does not inspire you when you hear it, then it is not worth the trouble of setting it up. I have never been happier to own, play, and praise a guitar in my life.
