August 17, 2000 About two months ago, I took delivery of a new Carter D10 with BCT and Lawrence 710 pickups purchased through Al Brisco. After 25 years of playing, this was my first new steel. I previously had a ShoBud and have been playing an Emmons P/P for the last 23 years. What a difference in instruments. I love the Emmons, but the comments from others regarding the new sound has been amazing. I have other musicians coming up and telling me how much they like the tone of my steel. Most do not know that it is a new one. They have told me that it seems so present in the mix and that every change of the strings and pedal movement is clear. Every note seems to jump right out. The ones that know the steel is new have told me that it cuts through everything much better than the Emmons did even though I am using the same amp setup. It really has a big fat sound to it and I am really happy with it. I took a chance on buying it because I had never even heard one in person before. I feel I got my money's worth.
