August 6, 2002 Hello Bud, John, and Ann, In September 2001, I purchased my new Blue Birdseye mica Carter D-10 with BCT through Al Brisco, without ever having seen or played one. I simply went with the recommendations of people who had played Carters and were very happy with them. Your fast, friendly service went a long way toward helping me to make a decision, as well. Before I played my Carter for the first time, I had a chance to play 2 other steels of different brands. On one of them the pedal action was so stiff that I could not play it easily. The other made all kinds of clacking noises when the pedals were engaged and was impossible to keep in tune. When I first played my Carter, the first thing I said was, "It is quiet!" The action is slick and smooth; and the sustain and sound are truly amazing. Also, my Carter arrived in perfect tune when I received it, after being shipped a couple thousand miles across Canada! My Carter is very comfortable and sounds great! I am just a beginner and the Carter has made learning the steel guitar an easy experience.
