Dear John, Ann and Bud,
Yesterday, I got to take my new Carter D-10 with BCT Technology out to play a job which ended up being 6 hours of playing.
However, I had some help playing as there were 3 other steel players in the crowd. I took along another brand psg for another steel player to try out when he gave me a break.
To start with I played the 1st set with my Carter (great sound). Then, the other steel player played the 'other brand' on the 2nd set for about 1/2 hour. And, I then played the rest of the 2nd set with the 'other brand' and then went back to the Carter on the 3rd set. Big, BIG difference.
After the 3rd set there were 4 or 5 people that came up to me and said, "boy what a difference in SOUND when you went back to your Carter, no comparison!"
Well the 3rd steel player started out the 4th set and guess what? He did not want to play the 'other brand'. He wanted to play the Carter.
When he got done playing, he said, "I think I'll have to have one of those -- he really liked it!"
During the 5th set, I thought I had better check the tuning since it sounded like I was out of tune a little.
Guess what? The 4th string was about 3 cents flat (I had used a lot of B&C pedals). But, the rest of the strings were almost perfect -- the out-of-tune was coming from one of the other guys in the band.
I have always played an Emmons PUSH-PULL (1966 & 1971), but they are going to STAY in the case in the CLOSET because I have fallen in love with my Carter with BCT Technology!
It really took playing the gig where I could push the sound to put me over the edge.
I can honestly say that I have never played a better guitar -- bar none.
Regards,
Gene Piper
