Dear John,
I purchased my Red Birdseye mica S-10 Carter with XR-16 pickup and Body-Contact™ Technology (BCT) since October 2003.
It has been very easy to get used to. Of the steel guitars I have owned, this is by far the best.
It has great tone and nice easy action. Even the band I am in commented on the difference in tone.
There are 20 pulls with 4 Pedals and 5 Knee Levers and everything pulls and returns right and in tune.
The communication and follow-up have been really good from Al Brisco and Carter Steel Guitars. It's refreshing to know that after the sale is made, the customer is still important.
The color is the red birdsye mica and it could pass for lacquer. I like the case that comes with it, too -- well-built and good hardware.
