Hi Ann,
It's now nearly two and a half years since I got my Carter, and it has been a pleasure to play. My Carter S-12 universal with BCT has given me the tone that I have been looking for, and the nice light weight is a pleasure to unpack from the case on gigs. It is so easy to play and I never have to do any retuning during a gig. It has an awesome tone. Wish I had gotten a Carter years ago.
I can only ring praises for a fantastic guitar. Every part of the construction has been meticulously thought out. I am a happy bunny now :-)
A weekend gig in 2003 at the Country Festival went very well for my first outing with my Carter. I mentioned to you that there were several other steel players with different brands and I was well complimented on the tone from my new baby.
I work in a very busy band, which is one of the best in England and we do many many miles, both on the mainland and sometimes into France. At this moment in time, it is freezing winter and lots of traffic jams on our motorways on the way to gigs. When we arrive, we have to sometimes set up the equipment in a hurry if we were delayed.
Most other brands of steels (from my experience) would have taken time to settle to the warm atmosphere of the club from disembarking from a cold group van. Not so with my Carter. I am usually ready to play before the Lead and Bass players have finished with their tuners. There is rarely, if any need to "settle in" to the warm club. This is a real pleasure, so if any of you road players are having this problem which can be a real pain, go try and buy a Carter -- end of problems.
I started playing steel in 1970 and had backed a few of the earlier Nashville stars when they came to Europe to work the American airforce bases. Most remembered were Bobby Bare and Barbara Fairchild, though I did panic when I knew I had to back Barbara as her steel player back home at the time was Mike Smith!
I am glad to be part of the Carter family. Anyone who wants to hear or try the Carter is welcome to contact me by email or see my web site below for my gig schedule.
Great saying "All good comes to those who wait" I wish you all well.
All the Best,
Micky Byrne
